Apps

Each GuidMe app represents one integration (e.g. one product or one environment). You manage apps from the dashboard after signing in.

Creating an app

  1. Go to the GuidMe dashboard and sign in.
  2. Click Create app (or Add app).
  3. Enter a name (e.g. "Production" or "My Product").
  4. Save, then open Connection to copy the app ID and generate a publishable widget key (starts with gm_live_).

App ID and widget key

  • Use the app ID and publishable widget key together in the widget script.
  • Widget keys belong to the organization and are visible in browser source. Do not use an admin-scoped key or another secret in client code.
  • You can regenerate the widget key from Connection when you need to rotate it.

Allowed origins

For security, each app has an allowed origins list. Only those domains can load the widget for that app.

  1. Open the app in the dashboard.
  2. Add your site origins (e.g. https://yourproduct.com, https://app.yourproduct.com).
  3. Save. The widget will work only on those domains.

Multiple apps

Use separate apps for:

  • Production vs staging — different app IDs and origins per environment.
  • Different products — separate usage and documents per product.

Documents and web links are stored per app, so each app has its own AI context.
